First Official Volturi Pics
Source: New Moon Movie
Okay, so I have a serious love of all things TWILIGHT. I'm not a crazy stalker or anything, but I enjoy the series and have high hopes for the next three films. When I came across these pics I had to think long and hard about posting these here. I know people will jump on the "I hate everything TWILIGHT and will bash anyone who doesn't!" bandwagon, but I decided to say fuck it and post them anyway.
These are the first official NEW MOON pictures of the Volturi, a powerful coven of vampires that are essentially the ruling body, in the Stephanie Meyers series. The coven is made up of Aro (Michael Sheen), Caius (Jamie Campbell Power), and Marcus (Christopher Heyerdahl). Joining them are the terrifyingly vicious Jane (Dakota Fanning), and her twisted brother, Alec (Cameron Bright).
I have to say, the pictures I've seen so far have proven that this film came with a bigger budget for better makeup and special effects. Under the direction of THE GOLDEN COMPASS helmer, Christopher Weitz, NEW MOON might just have a few twihards screaming, I told you so!
NEW MOON, starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner opens in theaters November 20th.

Magdalena
Source: MTV
I consider myself to be a lover of comics and comic book movies so when I heard that Ryuhei Kitamura (MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN) was on board to direct MAGDALENA, I just about wet myself. The Top Crow comic follows one of Mary Magdalene's descendents as she takes down demons using her supernatural powers.
The screenplay, written by Holly Brix (THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT 3: REVELATIONS), will star hottie Jenna Dewan (STEP UP) as Patience and Luke Goss (HELLBOY II) as Kristof. In a recent interview with MTV, Brix gave a little insight into the upcoming project.
On comparisons between THE DAVINCI CODE and WANTED:
"It's definitely a supernatural action movie, so I think the 'Davinci Code' is a good reference as far as all the Catholicism in it. But in addition to that story, it's also a really straightforward action movie...There's not a lot of codes to unlock and that sort of thing."
On female action stars not garnering a large audience.
"The movie's never really been a female action movie, because of Kristof. It's more of a two-hander. He's a huge character in it. He's definitely her mentor and fights right along side her and teaches her everything she knows...They go the whole movie together. He doesn't drop out somewhere along the way."
Check out MTV for the full interview and to see the embedded video.

Male Hottie of the Week

This week we've chosen Channing Tatum as our Male Hottie. This former model, turned dancer, turned actor was recently seen in Stephen Sommer's G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA. As if starring in one summer blockbuster wasn't enough, Tatum portrayed Pretty Boy Floyd along side the likes of Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in Michael Mann's summer hit PUBLIC ENEMIES.
Female Hottie of the Week

For this weeks Female Hottie we've gone ahead and chosen Milla Jovovich. The Ukrainian born actress may be best known for her role as Alice in the RESIDENT EVIL movies, but I prefer her NELL like gibberish and white ace bandages in THE FIFTH ELEMENT.
Even if you aren't a fan of ULTRA VIOLET or you couldn't careless about the fourth RESIDENT EVIL installment, RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE, you have to admit she certainly deserves to be our Female Hottie of the week.

More Expendables

Source: MTV
Sylvester Stallone's THE EXPENDABLES is probably one of the most anticipated action films to come along in a long while and that's in large part due to the cast Stallone has assembled. The old school action stars Dolph Lundgren and writer/director Sylvester Stallone, will be joined by current martial arts experts Jet Li, Jason Statham and Randy Couture. If that isn't enough to get some butts in theaters seats, Stallone has also managed to get cameos from none other than his former Planet Hollywood partners, Governor Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis.
Willis recently spoke to the people over at MTV to confirm his involvement. “I’m waiting for a call from Sly about when we’re going to try and make that happen. I don’t know anything about my character yet, haven’t seen any pages yet, but I’m excited about it.”
Terry Crews (EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS), Eric Roberts (THE DARK KNIGHT), Steve Austin (THE CONDEMNED), Danny Trejo (MACHETE), Forest Whitaker (GHOST DOG), and Mickey Rourke (THE WRESTLER) round out this huge ensemble cast.
I don't know about all of you but I'm looking forward to some serious ass-kickery.
THE EXPENDABLES opens nation wide on April 23, 2010

Smallville's Newest Character
Source: TV GuideFor those of you SMALLVILLE fans out there, a new "meteor freak" is about to make an appearance on the the CW show. Fresh off his turn as Derek Reece in TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, Brian Austin Green will be featured in a two-episode arc as the comic book character Metallo. The shows executive producer Kelly Souders reveals that John Corben, Green's character is turned into “a rough version of Metallo, a first attempt at the technology, and eventually he’ll get sleeker.” So might we see him again? “Well of course—it’s SMALLVILLE,” she says with a laugh. “We’re actually throwing some ideas around right now in the hopes that we might be able to bring him back for another episode.”
SMALLVILLE returns to the small screen for it's season premier on September 25.
Beckinsale Back in Black

Source: ShockTillYouDrop
Over the weekend there has been some talk about our favorite vamp in black leather, Kate Beckinsale. It seems Kate has been in talks to reprise her role as Selene in UNDERWORLD 4. There is no definitive script as of yet, but it's believed they are in talks to make it a trilogy centered around Beckinsale's character.
Now of course none of this is official as of yet and there is no word if Screen Gems will proceed with or without Bekinsale, but if they're smart, the studio big wigs will do everything in their power *cough...wallets* to bring Kate back to the franchise.

Ben Barnes is Gray

Source: JoBlo
After his turn as Prince Caspian in THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN, Ben Barnes will play another character straight from your English Lit Class. The 29 year old English actor will play the titular role of the Oscar Wilde novel, THE PORTRAIT OF DORIAN GRAY.
The Oliver Parker directed film tells the tale of a wealthy young man who sells his soul to preserve his beauty. Throughout the years, Gray ceases to age as a portrait of himself ages and deteriorates with each debauched act he commits.
THE PORTRAIT OF DORIAN GRAY will be shown at the Toronto International Film Festival and is opening in theaters in September.

Just the Beginning
If you've ever seen a movie and thought to yourself, "What the hell was that? If they had just asked me I could have told them they were doing it wrong!" than this blog is for you.
Contrary to the title, this blog will be about more than just superheroes. We will be talking about upcoming movies and old favorites. Statues and the talented artists who produce some of the most amazing pieces of art work today. We'll be tossing in some polls *snicker* every week and maybe a contest or two.
This just the beginning folks, so bare with us and I hope you enjoy what's to come.
