I consider myself to be a lover of comics and comic book movies so when I heard that Ryuhei Kitamura (MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN) was on board to direct MAGDALENA, I just about wet myself. The Top Crow comic follows one of Mary Magdalene's descendents as she takes down demons using her supernatural powers.
The screenplay, written by Holly Brix (THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT 3: REVELATIONS), will star hottie Jenna Dewan (STEP UP) as Patience and Luke Goss (HELLBOY II) as Kristof. In a recent interview with MTV, Brix gave a little insight into the upcoming project.
On comparisons between THE DAVINCI CODE and WANTED:
"It's definitely a supernatural action movie, so I think the 'Davinci Code' is a good reference as far as all the Catholicism in it. But in addition to that story, it's also a really straightforward action movie...There's not a lot of codes to unlock and that sort of thing."
On female action stars not garnering a large audience.
"The movie's never really been a female action movie, because of Kristof. It's more of a two-hander. He's a huge character in it. He's definitely her mentor and fights right along side her and teaches her everything she knows...They go the whole movie together. He doesn't drop out somewhere along the way."
